The origin of the combined character can be traced back to the runes used by the monarch to convey orders or recruit troops in the pre-Qin Dynasty. It is usually a combination of several seal characters, engraved on bamboo or wood, and then cut in half, with each side holding half, and the combined character can be verified as true or false. In the Han Dynasty, Taoist priests borrowed the so-called Fu seal style, called "Fu Wen".
Since the Song Dynasty, the combination character has evolved from the Taoist painting character to a means for people to express their desire to avoid evil and seek good luck.
